Today's nutrition tip is brought to you by the letter A!
Arugula: Detoxifies, helps prevent cancer, rich in folate, vitamin A, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin B-6, and pantothenic acid [that stuff is good for your body]. Contains vitamin C, vitamin K, and many other minerals. Only about 6 calories per cup.
Almond Butter: has a little less protein than peanut butter and more calories BUT it has a more diverse nutrient profile. A mere ounce of almond butter has around 5.9 grams of carbohydrates, 1.0 gram of fiber, 177 calories, 10.7 grams of monounsaturated fat, 3.5 grams of polyunsaturated fat, 118 mg of omega-3 fatty acids, 3326 mg of omega-6 fatty acids, riboflavin, niacin, folate, pantothenic acid, calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorous, manganese, copper, and many other important minerals [again, all good stuff].
The key here is variety--if peanut butter is always your go-to, try changing it up once in a while with some almond butter. And you may be wondering where the arugula and almond butter are at in this picture. Well, I blended it all up along with a half of a frozen banana in my Shakeology [breakfast for the day].
