Keeping it moving. Gain Momentum.

This is a difficult post to share.

I'm standing on the edge of a cliff, ready to jump. Metaphorically speaking. No need to call the authorities. So, I'm just going to close my eyes and do it. I hope you'll come with me.

I mentioned before how I found myself in a place where I needed a "Re-Set Button."

Before I had my son, I was into running and generally eating healthy. (Still a vegetarian!) But after becoming a mom, I struggled with working full time, caring for my son, my home, and other family responsibilities. You see, I'm the kind of person that can't do anything half-way. (I wasn't just "into" running, I've run 14 marathons.) It's all or nothing for me. And I took that approach to motherhood too. But taking that approach meant that I gave everything I had to my son. I found myself a martyr to motherhood.

And I lost myself—for almost 3 years.

Slowly, I've come to realize that in giving up my entire self, I wasn't giving my son, my family, or my career my very best. Those things need me--all of me--at my best. And like the cliche, you have to put on your own oxygen mask first, before you can help anyone out with theirs. To be of service to others, you have to take care of yourself.

And I believe two things in the world: 1. We are put on this planet to help other people. 2. Helping others is the only way to be truly happy ourselves.

So where did this leave me?  Exhausted, spent, looking to food and alcohol to soothe this heavy burden I had placed on myself. (I'm abbreviating here, there's lots to this story, but we don't have to tell it all now.)

Fast forward through some fits and starts getting myself on track. I just couldn't do it.
Then, by chance, I stumbled on an at-home workout (Beachbody Hammer & Chisel) that was very appealing--work out at home for 30-40 minutes a day and get Chiseled! Too good to be true, right? And bonus, it came with a meal plan and a challenge group to keep me on track. I really hadn't heard of Beachbody before. We had some Insanity DVDs laying around somewhere, but...

So I took a leap and tried it. And it has stuck. It has changed everything.

One positive change led to another and I gained MOMENTUM. Weight lost (15 lbs!!), new muscles, habits back on track.

Now, to make a long story a little shorter...
I’m wondering if any of you are like me—struggling to fit it all in and, most importantly, take care of yourself. I would love to share what I’ve learned (and still need to figure out) with you. I’m starting my first challenge group April 1st!

Send me an email at megan9j@gmail.com or sign up on the Gain Momentum list to the right and I’ll fill you in on all the details!

Oh--and those scandalous pictures. Here you go. Eyes closed, jumping now...

That last one is deceiving. I didn't grow taller, I just cropped differently. But this is what happened when I tried something new--in JUST 40 days. (Results may vary says the lawyer in me.)  Still  2 weeks left in the Hammer & Chisel program and I'm going to kill it!

Beachbody has a ton of programs to choose from. Let's talk about the right one for you. They also have a streaming video service now, so you don't have to pick just one! But most importantly, let's talk about joining together for accountability and learning so no one has to do this alone!

I'm In! I want to gain Momentum.
