Baby Business: Nursery

It's getting to be about time to get the baby's nursery together.

This is tricky because we still have several other renovation projects going on and they are starting to run into each other.

We needed to get the floors done so we could turn the living room into the office/sewing room so we could turn the office into the baby's room. Don't ask how we also ended up ripping apart the bathroom. We still don't have a working sink in there.

But, all in due time. It's just got to be before DUE time (8/7/12 if s/he is punctual).

So, we are still working on shelving for the new office and trying to figure out where to stash everything that was once in the office so that it's easy to access but out of sight. That's one of the problems when you decide to transfer a room that used to be the junk depository to the room that everyone sees right when you walk into the house. The new office/sewing room HAS to be pretty (and organized)!

So, here's the nursery BEFORE (I can't believe I'm posting these pictures on the inter webs--embarrassing):

At least the before and after will be dramatic. We are keeping the top half navy.
Here are some of my inspiration boards from Lay Baby Lay. If you'd like a dose of cuteness, spend some time on that website. The rooms they put together are amazing.

Specifically referencing the navy, I was inspired by this one:

I've already gotten started on incorporating the white and turquoise. I'm going to have to hold off on some of the pink/coral until the little one arrives since it will be a surprise. I'll add those accents once s/he is home (or not...).

I plan to buy a thrift store dresser to paint a fun, bright color. Still working on a rocker though--all of the more modern ones I love are pretty $$$. Maybe a splurge?
